About the Role:

As part of Opticomm’s systems integration function, the Senior Software Support Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and deployment of our OSS/BSS stack.

This role works closely with internal stakeholders to support project delivery and plays a key role in the ongoing management and improvement of core telco systems.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Design, develop, and manage Opticomm’s OSS/BSS stack.
  • Test and integrate new software into the network.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define system requirements.
  • Implement application enhancements, upgrades, and improvements.
  • Create and maintain automated testing for quality assurance.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the application team in support of business operations.
  • Maintain and optimise operational support for OSS/BSS systems.
  • Review, prioritise, and resolve RSP and internal support tickets.
  • Maintain and expand internal documentation and Wiki resources.
  • Manage source control and versioning of software.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in Computer Systems Design, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience designing, developing, and implementing software solutions.
  • Strong experience with PHP 8 and the Laravel framework.
  • Knowledge of wholesale network provider functions.
  • Up-to-date frontend skills, including HTML5, CSS3, and a modern JavaScript framework.
  • Familiarity with PSR standards, PHPDoc comment styles, and PHP 8 or Hack.
  • Experience with Composer and commonly used PHP libraries.
  • Hands-on experience developing and implementing APIs (REST, SOAP, etc.).
  • Comfortable with Git basics, including clone, branch, commit, and merge.
  • Postgraduate qualifications with documented work (e.g., thesis) are highly desirable.
  • ITIL and/or Project Management certifications are an advantage.
  • Understanding of Continuous Improvement methodologies.
