About the Role:

As Project Manager, you will oversee and manage the rollout of the Opticomm Fibre-to-the-Premises network across the state. This role requires deep expertise in telecommunications fibre networks and exceptional project management capabilities. You will be responsible for planning, organising, leading, and controlling complex infrastructure projects to ensure timely delivery, quality outcomes, and alignment with strategic objectives.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Ensure practical completion of projects across portfolio on time and on budget
  • Manage the deployment and rollout of infrastructure to support FTTH in OptiComm communities in portfolio
  • Oversee Q&A of construction works undertaken by subcontractors
  • Interface with developers on project specifications and timing
  • Ensure Health, Safety and Environment requirements and policies are met across OptiComm construction division.
  • Manage the ongoing resource requirements in the region
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to meet project outcomes.
  • Develop relationships with subcontractors
  • Provide regular reporting on the projects to OptiComm management
  • Interface with developers and their consultants on project timing and deliverables

About you:

The ideal person for this role will have/be:

  • 10+ years’ experience in telecommunications construction, with a focus on project management
  • Formal qualifications in project or leadership management
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Valid QLD Driver’s License
  • Traffic Controller and Implement Traffic Control Plans cards (preferred)
  • Proven experience managing civil contractors in greenfield and brownfield telecom projects
  • Familiarity with Telstra’s ADR system
  • Ability to liaise with homeowners regarding installation specs and scheduling
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, DC power, RF (FTA/SAT), and GPON networks
  • Understanding of IP networking, logistics, Wi-Fi, security, and access control systems

Essential Experience:

  • Experience in managing civil contractors with the delivery of telecommunications pit and pipe infrastructure in greenfield and brownfield developments
  • Experience with using Telstra’s Automated Duct Reservation (ADR) system
  • Interface with Homeowners on Installation specifications and scheduling of planned works
  • Knowledge of Electrical systems
  • DC Power fundamentals
  • RF- FTA / SAT
  • GPON Networks – Pit and Pipe / Fibre/ Equipment and components
  • IP Networking
  • Logistics
  • Understanding of Wi-Fi, Security, Access Control and other ICN offerings
